CALLIOPE
Calliope is the name of our original vineyard at Rutherglen. Reginald Buller named the property
after the warship of that name, one of the few survivors of the
Great Hurricane at Samoa in 1889.
VALERIE
The name Valerie refers to the mother of the Buller brothers, Valerie Buller, matriarch of the Buller family company, has agreed to have her name on a select range of wines of exceptional quality and very individual characteristics.
LIMITED RELEASE
The Limited Release Range of wines is sourced from our Rutherglen winery. It is from this original family winery that Andrew Buller oversees the production of high quality wines reflecting the unique character and flavours of North East Victoria.
BLACK DOG CREEK
Black Dog Creek can be found in north eastern Victoria just south of the Buller family home. We have chosen the name Black Dog Creek for our range of premium table wines which are sourced from Victoria's King Valley.
BEVERFORD
The beverford range of red and white varietal table wines takes its name from the sleepy hamlet of the same name in the heart of the Swan Hill Winegrowing Region. Beverford is the location of our second winery, established in 1952.
CASPIA
Caspia is a Greek word with floral and wildlife connotations. The Caspia range of wines is a tribute to Mrs Val Buller's lifelong interest in her garden and native birds.
SPARKLING
This wines are named in honour of Reginald Langdon Buller, the
founder of our family company, which now spans four generations over eighty years.
VINTAGE PORT
Vintage Port differs from other ports in that it is the wine from
only one vintage which is aged in the bottle, rather than blends
aged in wood, such as Tawny Port.
The two grape varieties used in this wine are relatively rare in
Australia.
The French grape Durif is almost exclusive to North East Victoria,
and even here plantings are few.
Touriga is from Portugal and is regarded there as the finest variety
for making red port. It has not however been widely planted in
Australia.
Blended together they have made an outstanding Vintage Port.
A trophy winner at Rutherglen, this Limited Release has been
maturing at Rutherglen and is now in 2002 being commercially
released.
FINE OLD FORTIFIED
Time is an essential element in the making of fine quality fortified wines. To create the rich and complex flavours of this product, the wines in this blend have had to spend years slowly maturing in old oak casks. 'Fine Old' is more than a name, it is a reference to the skill and patience necessary to produce our premium Fine Old range of fortified wines.
ANGEL'S SHARE FORTIFIED
“Angel’s Share” refers to the high level of evaporation that occurs during the long years of maturation required to produce wine of this quality. What the wine loses in volume it gains in concentration of the flavours. The result is a luscious, complex and intensely flavoured wine. The “missing” wine – up to 5% per year – is known as “the angel’s share”.
VICTORIA FORTIFIED
The Victoria Range of fortified wines is blended from younger material to produce consistency of style and quality.
